What is Portrait Plasma® and how does it work? The innovative FDA-cleared Portrait Plasma procedure is the first and only technology proven to deliver true skin regeneration. It employs nitrogen based plasma energy that transfers heat to the skin using a non-contact technique. What makes Portrait Plasma different from other available treatments? The ground-breaking science behind Portrait Plasma makes it different from other treatments in several important ways. Portrait Plasma is the first and only treatment clinically proven to regenerate a natural collagen and elastin structure – the basis of youthful skin. 100% of the skin is treated initiating regeneration deep below the surface, remodeling a natural skin architecture which replaces the damaged, wrinkled layers naturally. And the results have been clinically proven to last for two years after treatment. Can Portrait Plasma tighten my upper & lower eyelids?Yes. The results seen from clinical studies and ongoing clinical use clearly demonstrate significant tightening of lax skin and wrinkle reduction around the eyes. Can Portrait Plasma treat pre-cancerous lesions such as actinic keratosis?Yes. You may discuss this topic with your doctor. What kind of improvements can I expect to see?You will see improvements in skin texture and tone and reduction of fine wrinkles at lower energy levels of treatment and reduction of deep wrinkles and acne scars at higher energy levels of treatment. New healthier, natural collagen growth will improve contours, tighten your skin, and enhance your overall appearance. What does the procedure feel like and how long does it take? You may experience a localized sensation of heat during the brief procedure. A topical anesthetic is generally applied before the procedure, although your physician may recommend other approaches for comfort depending upon your specific needs. After preparation, a full face treatment usually takes around 30 minutes. How many treatments do I need?Your physician will recommend an appropriate treatment regimen for you. Typically this will vary from 1 to 6 treatments depending upon your skin condition, the level of improvement you are seeking and what you consider acceptable recovery time. What should I expect following treatment? At a very low energy level there will be very mild redness. At lower levels of treatment there will be some mild redness and flaking of the skin. At higher energy levels, the outer layer of the skin browns and is shed three to five days after treatment. Once this occurs, the redness of the regenerated skin will last for two to three days. Localized redness may linger slightly for some patients. On darker skin, the localized redness may appear as a darker spot that lightens over time. It usually takes from one or two days to just over a week until makeup or shaving may be resumed. How soon will I see a difference and how long will it last?Following the recovery time you will see a more even skin tone, smoother texture and diminished fine lines and pigmentation. Your deeper wrinkles and acne scars will diminish as the collagen and elastin fill in about three months after the procedure. One of the most striking and unique advantages of Portrait Plasma is that it stimulates a natural process of skin regeneration, producing results that progressively improve over time. Clinical studies show the improvement can be seen for at least two years after treatment. Patients are amazed when they compare their appearances before treatment and two years later. Is the Portrait Plasma procedure safe?In clinical studies Portrait Plasma has demonstrated an excellent safety profile. The study patients have not shown protracted periods of downtime, scarring, hypopigmentation, or prolonged hyperpigmentation associated with other light or ablative resurfacing laser treatments. Portrait Plasma is FDA-cleared to treat wrinkles, superficial skin lesions, actinic keratosis, seborrhoeic keratosis and acne scars of the face and body. Can Portrait Plasma be used with other treatments?Your physician will advise you on the best way to combine treatments such as Botox® or dermal fillers. Many physicians are also combining Portrait Plasma with facelifts and liposuction as well as re-treating regional areas such as the eyes for patients looking for more results. If you have had other procedures within the last 12 months you should discuss the timing of your Portrait Plasma procedure with your physician. How much does the procedure cost? The cost for Portrait Plasma will depend upon the treatment regimen you and your doctor choose. In general, the cost is comparable to other similar procedures. However, with superior, longer-lasting results at every treatment level and fewer treatments required to get the results you want, Portrait Plasma is a very economical choice. |
